In 2012, Victor founded Desktop Genetics (www.deskgen.com), a company at the intersection of technology and bioscience developing software to enable effective and precise CRISPR genome-editing business. In his role as COO, Victor led the company’s business development, placing the fast-growing company as a market leader in CRISPR design and analysis solutions. In this time, he secured over $4M in business and research financing, out-licensed the DESKGEN technology to top pharmaceutical companies, in-licensed novel technology and managed the company’s operations, from early R&D through commercialization of innovative CRISPR products and services for genomics research and next-generation cell therapy. In April 2018, Victor took over as CEO of the company, leading its acquisition by cell therapy developer Celixir plc.
Prior to founding Desktop Genetics, Victor was an entrepreneurial fellow at Boston-based VC fund Flagship Pioneering, turning cutting edge science into new companies. In his active role as supporter of student entrepreneurship, Victor supports graduate technology entrepreneurs in schools and universities by mentoring at competitions including the OneStart challenge and the Dubai100 accelerator. He is a regular speaker at major health, technology and entrepreneurship conferences.
Victor holds an MEng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge. In 2017 he was nominated Entrepreneur of the Year by the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 and was elected Forbes 30 Under 30.
